A story similar to the cobbler's children having no shoes, the website for the College of Computing (CoC) was not reflective of the leading edge technology powerhouse program that it is-until now. Since the launch of the first CoC website in 1992 the site had grown to nearly 25,000 pages. There was no content management system in place, no database, not even an easy way to change a navigation item! After four redesign initiatives over 13 years and no technical platform upgrades, by 2005 the College's site was not exactly user friendly. This month, the College rolled out it's new web presence, powered by Joomla!

Unsigned band Georgia Wonder launched their self designed website at the start of the year without any previous experience of using Joomla and have already attracted a high volume of traffic.

Until recently CalebJames.com was built completely in Flash. While visually pleasing, it did not allow for practical management of content. Using the core design elements from the Flash site, Jeremy Bennett of The Bennett Organisation completely re-coded the site in HTML/CSS and employed Joomla for all content management. The result is a site that is eminently practical while still retaining the style inherent in the original design. |
