The Globalisation Institute, a European think tank, adopted Joomla a little over a year ago. "It's totally transformed our website," says the Institute's President Alex Singleton. "It gives us the power to update our site that others - even those with extremely expensive content management systems - just don't have. We can create new menus and add sections that we hadn't thought of when we set it up. It's helped us triple our readership over the past year."
The site uses a number of Joomla extensions including Jom Comment Pro, an Ajax comment system, which lets readers discuss blog entries. SEF Advance is used to make filenames search engine friendly. "I hear people complaining that they have to resort to using HTML codes to format their website articles, or that it takes ages for some company to add a new part to their site. Often people would like to add functionality to their site, but the proprietory backend to the site just can't offer that," says Alex Singleton. "But with Joomla, if I want to add something, the chances are that someone's written the feature as an extension."
