 As an IT consulting company, we are continuously looking for talented and brilliant developers. Our HR strategy is centered on interviewing candidates that have been selected through their application files.
This way of doing things is pretty successful: It enables us to pick candidates who have written good resumes and cover letters, and who did well during the interview (it combines technical and non technical questions).
Few months ago, we faced two linked facts that made us think that way twice:
- We have among our teams outstanding developers that had a “non-special” resumes or cover letters, and without interviews, we have never been able to figure that potential out.
- During fast growth stages, we are unable to interview all candidates; we are only based on tight resumes selection. Therefore, we are pretty convinced that we missed great profiles due to their non eye-catching applications.
The idea we got is to start online testing of our candidates. Our website is Joomla! based and there is no free and full featured Joomla! extension available, so we just made it!
Today, JQuarks is the first free, open source and full featured Quiz & Surveys Joomla! extension that allows you to create and categorize all type of questions, compile public or private tests and send mail invitation to candidates.
