Elearningforce has released a new component for Joomla - VersionUpdater. A new commercial Component for administrating software updates for sellers of downloadable products via the famous VirtueMart shopping cart.

When a user has bought a downloadable product in your web shop and the order is listed as confirmed in VirtueMart after the payment has been done, the user gets an e-mail with a download ID and downloads the product.

When a new version of the product is released, it must be possible for the buyer to go to a menu item called Updates to login at www.yourdomain.com and get a list of updates for earlier bought downloadable products. Data are taken from the VirtueMart database tables.

This component is one in a load of new components from Elearningforce DK!!!

This is what is does:  

In the back end administration go to Components -> VersionUpdater -> List Updates
(New, edit, delete updates in the top)
Here you list the products and a path to the update for each product (will often be outside the web root for security reasons – e.g. in a folder called Secure (but the default is the path in Joomla configuration.php), date for release of update. Upload the update via FTP to the secure folder.

In the back end administration go to Components -> VersionUpdater -> Tracking
Here you can filter results to be shown 

• Products -> Filter: show customers: that have downloaded the update, how many times, date and time

• Customers -> show which updates the customer has downloaded, how many times, date and time filtered by product

In the front end you can have a menu item as a link to the component.

When the user is logged in, he can see the list of updates for earlier bought and downloaded software. If no updates are available a text telling this is shown.
