Guild

GUILD is a training based multimedia organization dedicated to career development of students and industry professionals. Their motto is: Training Today with the Technology of Tomorrow.

Guild stands for Graphical User Interactive Learning and Development. The group holds monthly meetings at which guest speakers share information and experience.

Some of the topics covered are 2D and 3D animation, film, photography, voice-overs, sound, software demonstrations and reviews, business tips for artists, writing do's and don'ts, digital painting, drawing and sketching, storyboarding, character development, character animation, the list goes on. Guest speakers generally show a reel or CD of their work, or perform ad hoc for the audience.

The Guild had a traditional website that was okay, but not great. They wanted something that could be easily updated, had a cool look, and where members could easily submit content like tutorials, interviews, software and product reviews, and artist profiles. They also wanted to have a calendar where upcoming events could be posted by group or category. Joomla gave the Guild just that, plus a lot more fiexibility. With the ability to set up content and events to publish and unpublish at certain dates, events can be set up in advance, and even the most absent-minded administrator can take a break without worrying that they forgot something important.
