Joomlaza a South African Joomla community portal has officially been launched, although they have been quietly online for a few months with the completion of thier new design by mozami.net they have decided to open thier doors to all South African Joomleans. 

The Purpose of Joomlaza apart from contributing in future to the Joomla project is to be a place where local South African users and developers can meet and showcase thier work as well  as thier sites developed on the Joomla framework.

Just when you thought it was time for a Joomla! release increment, we've decided to take FIVE in one go!

During the past few months, we've been discussing the versioning of the forthcoming Joomla! release.  We have decided to call the upcoming beta release "Joomla! 1.5 Beta", not Joomla! 1.1 Beta.

The sheer volume of changes in the Joomla! core (Joomla! framework) made a minor point (.1) increment inconsistent with the amount of work undertaken.  While it may not be obvious by simply looking at release dates, today's Joomla! core has mutiple technology shifts under the engine.

It's been a hectic six months for the Joomla open-source CMS since its split from the Mambo project, but an even busier six weeks lie ahead.

Next week Joomla will make its debut at LinuxWorld Expo in Boston, with the milestone Joomla 1.1 release due towards the end of April.

It all means that Joomla chief Andrew Eddie will find little time to enjoy the sunshine at his home town in Toowoomba, Queensland.

As of Monday, March 20th 2006, the prime template designer for the Joomla templates, osskins, is changing its web identity. Osskins will now be known as CMS Lounge.

The new name reflects a fresh approach to Joomla templates for the company. In the next few weeks, the design company will start an affiliate program for designers and resellers who want to target new markets featuring our quality products. By the end of April, CMS Lounge is set to reach a new landmark, by starting a store service that will allow other template designers to sell their templates in our store. This will be an important step for every designer that seeks to assert themselves in this area and for the community at large.
