Joomla! First — A Developer Network Portal Raises Standards

Over the New Year we promoted our commitment to third party developers (3PDs), where we hinted at creating a cool hangout for all 3PDs to learn, exchange, mentor and explore their creative ideas. Well, today, as promised, we're delivering our Developer Network Portal.

The Joomla!™ Developer Network Portal, is, we believe, a first in the Open Source world. "This idea has been driven by both core development members and third party developers," said Joomla! project leader Andrew Eddie. "It represents another milestone in the maturity of Joomla! and there is no doubt from the feedback we're receiving it's a benchmark worth having."

Core Team Announcement

We are pleased to formally introduce Louis Landry, David Gal, Mateusz (Mat) Krzeszowiec, Richard (Ric) Allinson and Sam Moffatt to the Core Development Team. The work they have contributed to Joomla!™ over the past few months has created some amazing momentum within the project.

LRU Joomla! Camp #1 a success!

The first LRU Joomla! Camp was a resounding success with over 40 students plus teachers in attendance. The course ran for 2 days and all the students got the full knowledge of web development from the staffs such as Web development on the real hosting, Joomla usage, Component, module and template installation.

This camp is to promote cms open source to the schools in northeast part of Thailand that want to join the project such as Sriboonrueng School from Nongbualamphoo province, Chulapornratchavittayalai School, Mueng Leoy School, Vocational School, CheangKhan School and other schools for more than 50 students.

Those adventurous guys in Thailand, Joomlacorner.com , are at it again wih a 2 day Joomla! Boot Camp for 36 students from 12 Schools. This is taking place on 21-22 Jan 2006 in association with Loei University.

Joomla! 1.0.7 released!

Joomla! 1.0.7 [ Sunburst ] is now available as of Sunday 15th January 2006 21:00 UTC for download here. 1.0.7 is essentially 1.0.6 repackaged to fix one major bug in 1.0.6 - therefore it should still be considered a Security Release.  It contains nine (9) `Low Level` Security Fixes, and seventy (70) plus minor/non-critical bug fixes.

We recommend that you upgrade to this version.  If you are running 1.0.6 you MUST upgrade to 1.0.7

1.0.7 is available as a Full Package, which contains all Joomla! files and a Patch Package which contains only the files that have been changed by the Security & Bug Fix work conducted.
